Choosing an Acoustic Guitar Tuner
There are a couple of things that you should always remember when you are a beginner, and that is to constantly practice to become a great guitar player and to keep your instruments in tune and perfect condition. Tuning a guitar using your ears is a very difficult process especially for beginners. Tuning a guitar by the use of the ears takes years and years of practice. Such special skill needs a lot of patience and perseverance before it can be mastered. While you are trying to master such skill, use an acoustic guitar tuner first to tune your guitar so you can dish out wonderful music when playing.
Acoustic guitar tuners come in different types. One of the most common types of acoustic guitar tuner that you would encounter is the electronic acoustic guitar tuner. These electronic tuners have a needle that informs the musician whether the pitch of the string is sharp or flat. If the needle points to the center, the results mean that the tune is perfect. The pitch is low if the needle leans to the left and high if it leans toward the other direction. You can play the scales and if everything is in tune, the green light will flash. If the guitar is out of tune, red light will flash and indicate why is it out of tune.
A type of acoustic guitar tuner that is considered different is the acoustic guitar auto tuner due to its built-in microphone. The string of a standard guitar is calibrated for this acoustic guitar tuner. There is no need to play the scales, all you need is to play the note and it tells whether you are out of tune or not.
The other type of acoustic guitar tuner is the clip-on tuner. It doesn’t have a built-in microphone; it recognizes the note that you play by the vibrations it picks up by being clipped on the head of the guitar. If you are playing to a loud room, this is the acoustic guitar tuner to use since you can check if you are in tune in between songs.
You can find all these acoustic guitar tuners on your local music store but better ask the opinion of seasoned musicians on what they think are the best and most applicable to you.
